KPOP 101: An Interview with Uza Tasty Beats

So here's the first interview/ original story I conducted and wrote about Tova Oh or like she was Uza Beats back in 2018 for my kpop website: KPOP101.

Though Kpop's popularity cannot be underestimated. There are still so many other Korean genres that have not yet been fully discovered. The growing scene of indie and electronic artists is a field to find fresh new talent. Take for example, UZA Tasty Beats.

She is a Korean artist based in Seoul and has a unique quality, particularly in the way she incorporates an electronic sound to her music.

And thanks to the power of the internet, she was able to explain through an email interview what inspired her and what she's currently working on.

So enjoy!

Q. How did you get involved in music?
"My parents are really big fan of pop music. it is good influence to me. As a grown up i'm crazy about rock stars (nirvana, hole, blur, like 90s rock stars) so I decided “i will be a rock star!!!” Although i changed my genre to electronic music, but i'm definitely based of rock"
Q.Which artists are your inspiration?
"80s artists (for examples, cutting crew, modern talking , bon jovi, queen, scorpions , prince etc .. ) so i'm naturally familiar about 80s sounds and 90s sounds. I love alternative and i love 90s sounds. (I feel 80s is wet and soft mood, and 90s is a little bit dry and they have more dark- mood)"
Q.How would you describe your music?
"It's really hard to me these days !! Cuz im always changing :) but i have to describe my music,, umm i will answer ‘including my youth’"
Q.Why is Korean music so unique?
" I think, all countries music is unique ! Cuz every music contains the ethnicity of each country. That's why I think that!"
Q.Any current projects your working on?
"Yes! I preparing my ep album !, I just sketch my ep’s concept and 1st track. I love it :) and sure i am making uza&shane’s next album now. And I want to streaming for my fans, and main contents will be music curation what I loved :)"
Q.Finally, what’s your favourite song to perform live?
"Tell me ! (I'm sorry for released yet! But I will release it bandcamp asap!!!!!!) I love tell me’s vocal mood"
And last, i want to say to my fans...
These days, I am going to throw away all my work (of course, this means I am going to show it to the bandcamp instead of going through a formal release) and make a new album from a very new heart. I'm a little concerned because I don't think the work I've been doing is the same. But I am working hard to make good music and hope the fans will be happy. ❤ ❤ ❤
