It's the 1st of October and do you know what that means?
Halloween.
Due to a certain thing (ahem... Covid) Halloween will most likely be different. But. that doesn't mean you don't get to celebrate All Hallow's Eve. So, I have compiled my top10 halloween playlist. There's a mixture of cult classics, theme & soundtracks and everything in between. There should be something you'll like. Unless, you don't like Halloween in that case I guess you'll have to wait until Christmas (only 85 days away).
This Is Halloween
Now I've got to admit. The nightmare before Christmas is my go to Halloween film. I adore the soundtrack so much but I had to go for the opening track This Is Halloween.
2. Hungry Like the Wolf
Duran Duran's video for the song was the first to win the Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video in 1984.
3. Thriller
Fun fact: Thriller was released January 23, 1984 in the U.S and November 2, 1983 in the UK. Nov 2 is also the last day of el dia de muertos.
4. Somebody's Watching Me
You're not crazy, Michael does make an appearance but only in the chorus and his brother Jermaine Jackson as additional backing vocals.
5. Time Warp
From the cult comedy musical Rocky Horror Show. It was first show in the West End in 1973.
6. Black Magic Woman.
Did you know: Santana's cover/version was released 2 years after Fleetwood Mac in 1970.
7. Monster Smash
The song depicts the tale of Frankenstein and it was considered "too morbid" that it was banded from the BBC until 1973. 11 years later.
8. I Put A Spell On You
According to Rolling Stone Magazine Screamin' Jay Hawkins' record is ranked No. 313 on the list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
9. GhostBusters
Who are you gonna call?
10. Halloween (soundtrack) 1978
Got to confess I recognise the music but I haven't seen the film. Maybe for my movie marathon this year I will.
If you want more songs here's a bonus Spotify playlist!
